Baseball Recap: Avondale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southfield Arts & Tech

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avondale). They put the hurt on the Southfield Arts & Tech Warriors with a sharp 25-1 victory on Monday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Paul Scherbarth was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He also got three hits, which is notable because Avondale is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 0-3 otherwise. Natheer Huskic was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Avondale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Avondale back to even at 3-3. As for Southfield Arts & Tech, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Avondale will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
