It's playoff time, and Lake Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Canfield Cardinals a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Not much got past Shea Sievers, who gave up just two hits to keep Canfield off the board. Sievers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Patrick Radigan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Micah Nytrae also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Lake Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canfield only posted an OBP of .182.
Lake Catholic pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Canfield, they moved to 21-11 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Lake Catholic will square off against Unioto at 4:00 p.m. on the 13th. The Shermans will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. Canfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
