Softball Recap: Hemlock Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Hemlock dropped their record down to 8-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 11-1 to the Ithaca Yellowjackets. The matchup marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Ithaca, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 21-3. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Ithaca's part, Ivy Davenport made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Davenport has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ithaca let Maeli Akin and Kennedi Ryan run wild. Akin went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ryan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Ryan has posted since back in April. Karley Braman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hemlock will take on Frankenmuth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ithaca, they will square off against Millington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
