Basketball Recap: Pickens Blue Flame vs. Easley Green Wave

It was a good run, but the Pickens Blue Flame unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 38-28 to Easley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pickens has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Pickens saw an underclassman step up: Ava Owens scored nine points along with six rebounds. Maggie Chambers was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 12 rebounds.

Easley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Gramblin led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Gramblin is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Meya Mckinney, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Pickens' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Easley, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

Pickens will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. As for Easley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. J.L. Mann presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Green Wave in South Carolina (the Patriots are ranked eighth, while the Green Wave are ranked 83rd).
