Van Nuys came tearing into Saturday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Fairfax Lions. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Jesus Zacaula looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conner Alagozyan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Nate Renard was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Van Nuys was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Van Nuys' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfax, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
