Baseball Recap: Vista Triumphs

Vista proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mission Vista 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 19, 2024.

Nicolas Bala was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other pitching news, Vista got a great performance from Trent Dodson as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Dodson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Aadyn Thomason was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Vista is undefeated when Thomason posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandyn Ketcher, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Vista's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Mission Vista, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mission Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
