Softball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

After flying high against Enterprise on Friday, Chico came back down to earth. The Panthers fell 8-3 to the Foothill Cougars on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost six in a row.

Leah Cawthon put in work no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Olivia Murphy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Chico's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Foothill, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5-1.

As of now, neither Chico nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
