Basketball Recap: Rampart Takes a Loss

If Rampart was riding high fresh off their 49-23 takedown of Pueblo Central last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rampart Rams were beaten by the Pine Creek Eagles 87-14 on Tuesday. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-4.

Claire Colosimo was Rampart's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Hadley Moffett held things down on the boards with three rebounds.

Brooklyn Stewart was her usual excellent self, going 11-for-21 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven steals and six boards for Pine Creek. Stewart is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last 11 games she's played. Leekaya Burke-Perryman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Rampart has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Pine Creek, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rampart will face off against Pueblo West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine Creek, they will square off against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Pine Creek has won five straight at home, while Doherty won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
