Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Pleasant Grove and St. Mary squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Pleasant Grove had to settle for second. They came up short against the Rams, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Maddox Ali was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pleasant Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Boyle, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
