Soccer Game Preview: Barbour County vs. Long

Barbour County hasn't had much luck against Long recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will take on the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Barbour County fell victim to Pike County and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Barbour County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Pike County are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, Long was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Northside Methodist Academy who was credited with the win. The Knights got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Long's one.

Long's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Barbour County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8-1.

Barbour County might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Long when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
