Softball Game Preview: Campbell County Camels vs. East Thunderbirds

The Campbell County Camels will face off against the East Thunderbirds on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Campbell County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Kelly Walsh, who was ranked fourth at the time (Campbell County was ranked third). The Camels were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Trojans on Tuesday. The Camels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Madison Cone was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Campbell County got a massive performance out of Caden Seminar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Seminar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sadie Cole, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Campbell County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, East had to kick off their season on the road back in March, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Rock Springs as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the TIGERS: they've now won three in a row.

Campbell County pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
