Softball Recap: Marshfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Marshfield walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chippewa Falls Cardinals an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The win (which was Marshfield's fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Chippewa Falls, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-9.

Looking ahead, Marshfield will face off against Stevens Point on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. Chippewa Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
