Softball Recap: Westland Cougars vs. Marion Harding Presidents
Westland extended their losing streak to 13 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They came up short against the Marion Harding Presidents, falling 26-6. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Presidents when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Westland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Berryman, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Allie Cochran also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Marion Harding, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Marion Harding's side, Raina Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Myers, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Westland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-13 win against Whitehall-Yearling on the 22nd. As for Marion Harding, they have also already played their next game, a 19-1 loss against Clear Fork on the 22nd.
