Basketball Game Preview: Comstock Panthers vs. Leakey Eagles

The Comstock Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Leakey Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Comstock has three straight wins, Leakey has 29 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Comstock will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Rocksprings, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Comstock strolled past Rocksprings with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 53-36. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly 17 points.

Meanwhile, Leakey had to suffer through a 81-30 loss at the hands of Utopia. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1705th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 850th).

Comstock's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. As for Leakey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

Everything came up roses for Comstock against Leakey when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 94-15 win. In that matchup, Comstock amassed a halftime lead of 43-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
