Baseball Game Preview: Oaks Christian Lions vs. JSerra Catholic Lions

Oaks Christian will challenge JSerra Catholic at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Oaks Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Oaks Christian came out on top against Newbury Park on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Lions blew past the Panthers 9-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Oaks Christian got a massive performance out of Ryan Sheffer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Sheffer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Young, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for JSerra Catholic's offense. They fell just short of St. John Bosco by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Oaks Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for JSerra Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.

Oaks Christian took their victory against JSerra Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Does Oaks Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will JSerra Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
