Baseball Recap: Seabreeze Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Seabreeze ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Matanzas Pirates, sneaking past 3-2. The Sandcrabs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brody Harris tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Seabreeze let Wrigley Zweifel and Jacob McKinnon run wild. Zweifel scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while McKinnon went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits McKinnon has posted since back in February.

Seabreeze now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Matanzas, their defeat was their 11th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seabreeze will take on Pine Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Pine Ridge's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Seabreeze's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Matanzas, they will head out to challenge St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
