The Western Beaver Golden Beavers will head out on the road to square off against the Leechburg Blue Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Western Beaver's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
While Western Beaver's win against Sewickley Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Western Beaver sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Sewickley Academy on Thursday. The Golden Beavers haven't had any issues with Sewickley Academy recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Benji Valdez was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Christian Stefankis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Western Beaver hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Leechburg hadn't done well against Union Area recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Leechburg put the hurt on Union Area with a sharp 18-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Garrett Jones made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Mason Bertino was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Vargo, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Western Beaver's record now sits at 4-1. As for Leechburg, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Western Beaver hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Leechburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Western Beaver skirted past Leechburg 10-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Western Beaver repeat their success, or does Leechburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
