Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Newman vs. Chapin

Cardinal Newman hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cardinal Newman's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Augusta Christian. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Cardinal Newman were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Chapin came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Demons as they made off with a 7-0 win. Chapin might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by four goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Lugoff-Elgin from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Lexie Kilmon led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Chapin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those five games. As for Cardinal Newman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
