Softball Recap: Cullman Gets the Win

Cullman hadn't done well against Mortimer Jordan recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

Dracen Bates made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Cullman got a massive performance out of Hattie Graham, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Haylee Little, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Cullman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Cullman's victory bumped their record up to 33-7. As for Mortimer Jordan, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16-1.

Cullman has already played their next game, a 9-1 win against Muscle Shoals on the 17th. As for Mortimer Jordan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-5 loss against Madison County on the 17th.
