Softball Recap: Carter Comes Up Short

Carter lost to Jefferson County back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hornets came up short against the Patriots, falling 14-2. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emmalynn Lossius and Abby Trull did some serious damage despite the final result: Lossius went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run, while Trull went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run. That triple was Trull's first of the season.

Carter's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Jefferson County, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Carter will venture away from home to take on Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Cocks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jefferson County, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bearden at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.85 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
