Baseball Game Preview: St. Charles Saints vs. Chatfield Gophers

The St. Charles Saints will venture away from home to challenge the Chatfield Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Charles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Chatfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Charles was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mabel-Canton on Saturday. The Saints were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Cougars. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Chatfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Zumbrota-Mazeppa, falling 14-4.

St. Charles' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Chatfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

St. Charles was able to grind out a solid victory over Chatfield when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 10-6. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
