Football Recap: Blountstown Skates Past Dixie County with Ease

The matchup between Blountstown and Dixie County on Friday hardly resembled the 22-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Tigers took their contest with ease, bagging a 74-0 win over the Bears. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Blountstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayin Martin led the charge by rushing for 82 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Martin has posted since back in November of 2024. Randy Moore got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Blountstown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Blountstown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Bowen Barber led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Blountstown pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games. As for Dixie County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Blountstown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-0 victory against Northview on the 17th. As for Dixie County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 48-16 loss against Hamilton County on the 17th.
