Softball Recap: Muskego Wins Going Away Against Kettle Moraine

Muskego won the last time they faced Kettle Moraine and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors blew past the Lasers 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kyleigh Sadler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Muskego let Reese Heinrich and Leah Neibrand run wild. Heinrich went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Neibrand went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Neibrand a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Gumieny, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Muskego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kettle Moraine only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory made it two in a row for Muskego and bumps their season record up to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Kettle Moraine, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muskego will head out to challenge Sun Prairie East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3, the Cardinals 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Kettle Moraine, they will face off against Brookfield East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
