Softball Recap: Emerald Ridge Now 12-3 over Last 15 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Emerald Ridge rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles, sneaking past 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Jaguars' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Alanna Wirtala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayda Guadron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

Emerald Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.

As of now, neither Emerald Ridge nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
