Basketball Recap: Wes-Del Falls Short of Daleville in the Playoffs

Wes-Del and Daleville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Wes-Del had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Daleville Broncos by a score of 68-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Broncos since January 11, 2019.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Love, who went 6-for-12 en route to 20 points and five boards. The game was Love's sixth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Carpenter, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Hunter Suchyna was his usual excellent self, shooting 52% from the field on his way to 33 points along with eight boards and three steals for Daleville. Suchyna is becoming a predictor of Daleville's success: when he posts at least 30 points the team is undefeated (and 5-15 when he doesn't). Cooper Sexton was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

The defeat snapped Wes-Del's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-13 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Daleville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-15.

Wes-Del does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Daleville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-60 victory against Northfield on the 8th.
