Baseball Game Preview: Alexandria-Monroe Tigers vs. Frankton Eagles

The Alexandria-Monroe Tigers will head out to square off against the Frankton Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alexandria-Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Alexandria-Monroe nor Blue River Valley made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mason Fuller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Frankton was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They fell 5-0 to Wapahani. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Eagles haven't been shut out since back in April.

Frankton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caine Oakley, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Alexandria-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Frankton, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alexandria-Monroe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Frankton struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Alexandria-Monroe took their victory against Frankton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
