Softball Recap: Pine Tree Takes a Loss

Pine Tree lost against Gilmer back in March of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pine Tree came up short against Gilmer, falling 10-3. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jasmine Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of E.K. Holder, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Pine Tree's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Gilmer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2-2 record this season.

Pine Tree will host Spring Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilmer, they will head out to take on Kilgore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kilgore has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.23 runs per game on average), something Gilmer will no doubt try to take advantage of.
