Green County and Larue County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Dragons will welcome the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Larue County will be up against a hot Green County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Dragons came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against Nelson County. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their one-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Andrew Houk, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Corbin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Green County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Larue County had just enough and edged out North Oldham 2-1 on Monday.
Ayden Seidl looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dekker Thomas was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Larue County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Green County, they pushed their record up to 12-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Green County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Larue County struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Green County came out on top in a nail-biter against Larue County in their previous matchup on Thursday, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
