Basketball Recap: Macarthur Extends Winning Streak to Nine

MacArthur came tearing into Tuesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Springfield Southeast Spartans 65-42. The Generals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

MacArthur was led to victory by Zahnya Gibbs and Casey Jackson. Gibbs posted 16 points, while Jackson went 6-for-12 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Gibbs continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Meyer, who put up five points and 11 assists.

MacArthur's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. As for Springfield Southeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

MacArthur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Springfield Southeast, they will head out on the road to challenge Taylorville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
