Softball Recap: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Seminole Warhawks

St. Petersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-7 walloping at the hands of the Seminole Warhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Petersburg of the 4-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Daniela Leombruno led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a double. Another player making a difference was Ryann Vigue, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

On Seminole's side, they got a great performance from Dallas Burke as she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Burke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Brittany Gingrich was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, a triple, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Graci Tubbs, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.

St. Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Seminole, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

St. Petersburg will head out on the road to challenge Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
