Baseball Game Preview: Union County Braves vs. University Heights Blazers

The Union County Braves will face off against the University Heights Blazers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Thursday, Union County came up short against Caldwell County and fell 9-6. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caleb Carr led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Noah Burgess was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, University Heights faced South Warren in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Blazers had just enough and edged out the Spartans 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Blazers, who have now won six games in a row.

Hayden Hunt was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

University Heights' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
