Softball Recap: Silver Creek Black Knights vs. Westfield Wolverines
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Silver Creek couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Westfield Wolverines by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Silver Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westfield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2017.
Rylee Weiskerger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Silver Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laneya Olsen, who went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Even though they lost, Silver Creek didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westfield only tossed three.
