Softball Recap: Randolph Comes Up Short

Randolph extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-7 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rockets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Cambria-Friesland, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

For Cambria-Friesland's part, Enya Heller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Heller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Janell Villarreal was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Zoi Sabol was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base.

Coming up, Randolph is taking a road trip to challenge Parkview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Cambria-Friesland, they will host Horicon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
