Football Game Preview: Lamar County Trojans vs. Putnam County War Eagles + How To Watch

The Lamar County Trojans will face off against the Putnam County War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Lamar County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Utopian Academy for the Arts for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-6 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Utopian Academy for the Arts are ranked 450th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jayden Hillman was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 95 yards and one score on only five carries. Those 95 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lamar County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Lamar County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Carter and Armoni Reid. Reid got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Putnam County against Towers on Friday as the squad secured a 40-3 win. The result was nothing new for the War Eagles, who have now won four matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Lamar County better keep an eye on Branan Griffin. He was instrumental in Putnam County's win, rushing for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.

Lamar County's record now sits at 7-0. As for Putnam County, their record is now 5-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lamar County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Putnam County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 179.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went Lamar County's way against Putnam County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Lamar County made off with a 24-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
