Curlew picks up sixth straight win at home

There's no place like home for the Curlew Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 42-37 win over Pateros on Friday. This was payback for Curlew, who suffered a 30-27 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Curlew was led to victory by Emma Lena Baker and Annika Baker. Baker dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Baker dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. Baker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Theia Grady, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Curlew pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Pateros, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Curlew won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Selkirk at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Selkirk will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Curlew is ranked 86th). As for Pateros, they will head out on the road to challenge Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
