South extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 11-5 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Maize Eagles a 5-0 shutout. Five seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

South got a great performance from Lawson Rassette as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Aidan Speilman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Anthony, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Maize, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Maize's side, they got a good showing from Luke Ethridge, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ethridge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maize saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Scotty Hadley, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will welcome Hutchinson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maize, they will host Liberty at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
