Bear Grass Charter piles up the points against Columbia

In what's become a running theme this season, the Bear Grass Charter Bears gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Columbia at home to the tune of 74-45. Bear Grass Charter pushed the score to 55-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.

Columbia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Ariyeh Spencer who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. That was a full 35.6% of Columbia's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Maurice Holloway was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

The victory makes it two in a row for Bear Grass Charter and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Columbia, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear Grass Charter will face off against the Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to take on the Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ocracoke's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
