Basketball Recap: Oakland Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Austin Catholic last Wednesday, Oakland Christian came back down to earth. The Oakland Christian Lancers took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parkway Christian Eagles on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-60 back in December of 2024.

Parkway Christian found their leader in sophomore Zaheem Cannon, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 24 points and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cannon has scored all season. Julian Montano was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 16 points.

Oakland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Parkway Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7.

Oakland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parkway Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-46 defeat against Genesee Christian on the 4th.
