Baseball Recap: Rising Sun Comes Up Short

Rising Sun couldn't beat North Decatur on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Shiners fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 6-5. The Shiners were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Landon Simpson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brayden Burris, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Rising Sun has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for North Decatur, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rising Sun will take on South Ripley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Decatur, they will be playing at home against South Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
