Softball Game Preview: Bledsoe County Warriors vs. Whitwell Tigers

The Bledsoe County Warriors will square off against the Whitwell Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Bledsoe County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Bledsoe County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out South Pittsburg 2-0. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

The result came thanks to Josie Potter's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bledsoe County's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Macy Holland, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Whitwell got the win against Grundy County on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Whitwell let Kendal Holtcamp and Lillian Ray run wild. Holtcamp scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Ray scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Ray has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Layne, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Whitwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bledsoe County's win bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Whitwell, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Bledsoe County came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitwell in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
