Baseball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Ponderosa Bruins

The Christian Brothers Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Ponderosa Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last seven games Christian Brothers has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Christian Brothers didn't have quite enough to beat Woodcreek and fell 8-7.

Joseph Pelka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Ponderosa and Bella Vista, and Bella Vista kept the tradition alive. Ponderosa fell just short of Bella Vista by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday.

Joe Stevens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ponderosa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Purdom, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Christian Brothers has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. Ponderosa dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
