Softball Recap: Lincoln-Way Central Extends Road Winning Streak to 16

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lincoln-Way Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Lincoln-Way West Warriors 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

Lisabella Dimitrijevic made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Mia Degliomini was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Kayla Doerre was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Lincoln-Way Central pushed their record up to 20-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way Central will take on St. Charles North at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 2, the North Stars 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lincoln-Way West, they will square off against Bradley-Bourbonnais at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
