Basketball Recap: Benjamin Davis Takes a Loss

If Benjamin Davis was feeling good fresh off their 55-13 takedown of Aldine last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Benjamin Davis Falcons took a blow against the Westfield Mustangs on Saturday, falling 62-27. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1073rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 304th).

Westfield was led to victory by Jade Francis and Saniya Broomfield. Francis dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards, while Broomfield posted nine points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Those 21 points gave Francis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameriah Butler, who earned ten points.

Benjamin Davis' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Westfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-5.

Benjamin Davis will welcome MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westfield, they will take on Eisenhower at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
