Baseball Recap: Elida Takes a Loss

Elida fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Dora on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 15-14. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-4 defeat on Friday.

Radlee Ferguson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Mochel, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Elida's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Dora, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elida is set to challenge their familiar foe Gateway Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dora will face off against rival Floyd at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
