Basketball Game Preview: Rosa Fort Lions vs. Independence Wildcats

Rosa Fort is 7-2 against Independence since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rosa Fort Lions duke it out with the Independence Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Rosa Fort's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

While Rosa Fort didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 55-47 win over Coahoma County on Friday.

Robert Boyd was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Carlos Smith was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Independence, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Holly Springs 69-66.

Independence pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Rosa Fort, their record is now 7-1.

Rosa Fort came up short against Independence in their previous matchup back in February, falling 62-58. Can Rosa Fort avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
