Baseball Recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Bishop McLaughlin Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Cardinal Mooney Cougars by a score of 6-1 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Hurricanes: when they faced off against the Cougars on Tuesday, they had to take a 5-3 loss.

Cooper Antalek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Steele Thalleen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is 3-1 when Thalleen posts two or more runs, but 12-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dominic Zito, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory got Bishop McLaughlin Catholic back to even at 15-15. As for Cardinal Mooney, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-9.

Coming up, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is taking a road trip to square off against Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hurricanes 4, the Buccaneers 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Cardinal Mooney does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
