Recap: St. John Lutheran Saints vs. Chiefland Indians
The St. John Lutheran Saints couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to Chiefland at home by a decisive 55-39 margin on Tuesday.
When it comes to explaining why St. John Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kayla joy Bowen. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keiera (KeKe) Mendoza, who scored 8 points.
Chiefland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryleigh Locke, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Laila Ingram was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 steals.
St. John Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Chiefland, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John Lutheran will face off against Oak Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chiefland, they will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
