Basketball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

Payton College Prep played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Kenwood Broncos, falling 79-30. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Broncos are ranked sixth).

Kenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Danielle Brooks, who made all 7 shots she took to post 16 points and five assists. Brooks has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Diann Jackson, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Payton College Prep dropped their record down to 6-20 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Kenwood, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.

Payton College Prep has already played their next match (against Trinity), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Kenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
