Basketball Game Preview: Marco Island Academy Rays vs. Island Coast Gators

The Marco Island Academy Rays will face off against the Island Coast Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Marco Island Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 82 points back in December of 2024, they were much more limited against South Fort Myers on Thursday. They took a blow against the Wolfpack, falling 87-24. The loss continues a trend for the Rays in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Island Coast hadn't done well against Cypress Lake recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Island Coast greeted the New Year with with a 62-43 win over Cypress Lake.

Marco Island Academy better keep an eye on Jose Bido. He was instrumental in Island Coast's win, putting up 22 points. Jermiah Oliveras was another key player, posting 11 points.

Marco Island Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Island Coast, their record now sits at 9-6.
