Volleyball Recap: Lutheran West Takes a Loss

If Lutheran West was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Harvey on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns fell 3-1 to the West Geauga Wolverines on Tuesday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: West Geauga scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Lutheran West still got an impressive performance from Nicole Bryda, who had 13 digs and three aces. Bryda is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jaiah Griffin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lutheran West's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for West Geauga, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Lutheran West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Perry on the 18th. As for West Geauga, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Hawken on the 18th.
